Grinding and scraping noise. ABS light on

Asked by Teezus88 Apr 20, 2017 at 12:33 PM about the 2006 Volkswagen Jetta 2.5L

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Car making a knocking/grinding/scraping
noise at lower speeds and turns especially.
At higher speeds (50+) More of a clicking
sound. Sounds like from the front passenger
side, also under the front end. Front breaks
are new. Car also wobbles sometimes when
slowing to a stop or while driving down the
highway. Abs light stays on constantly for a
few days now and traction light comes on
while car is moving. But noise started before
the lights.

I'd have to say you have a bad wheel bearing that got hot and fried the wheel speed sensor, causing the ABS light to come on. Wheel bearings should be replaced on both sides, as one goes, not far off the other wheel bearing will go.

I’m having the same problem. New break pads. Brand new wheel bearings. I am missing the skid plate and the fender liners… I read something about it could be pushing the vent onto the axel?
