key wont turn to the ignition position

Are you saying you can't physically turn the key to the start position? You may have a bad ignition switch/lock cylinder...
Ignition switch/lock cylinder, or neutral safety switch
well you can always jump the car to start it but yea they are all probably right the cylinder lock probably busted
Old post but still want to put this out there for others. My Jetta does this. Obviously needs to be replaced. Don't do it yourself or even try! Seriously go in for that. When my ignition does this, Move steering wheel up and down with the tilt. Keep trying while you do. Eventually it will go. Sometimes takes awhile.
I put the key in my 2006 vw jetta and it wont trun what going on
jiggle it around a little and make sure the steering wheel is not leaning on the lock pin
Audi, Volkswagen, Skoda Lock can be repaired if they get stuck like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nykkay9TuIw
