how safe are stud kits & can factory lug bolts be reinstalled without repacing hubs

Asked by Jeopardy Nov 26, 2016 at 06:22 PM about the 2000 Volkswagen Jetta GLX

Question type: Car Customization

Had a drivers side wheel come off at low speed. Car has had stud kit installed. When Wheel came off on drivers side, 4 bolts came out of hub with nuts stuck on the end. Only 1 stud stayed in place on the wheel hub.

I would strongly recommend installing a new hub.

I agree^ it would just be safer to replace it. You was lucky and had it happen at low speed. You don't want it to happen on the highway
