Stalling, trouble starting.

I am having trouble with my 2001 Jetta 2.0 4cyl. 5 speed.
My car just recently started this. My check engine light
has been on for my cadylitic converter I just replaced my
o2 sensor. My car was driven the day before but when I
get in my car it does not want to start. I tried jumping the
vehicle and the problem still persisted. It will start
occasionally but stall almost immediately. My car idled at
my correct rpms for a moment then drops to 200 rpms
then stalls out. I replaced my alternator and that was not
the problem. I was going to replace my fuel filter today but
it was fairly new as well. I'm just not sure what to check
next. Any help willl be appreciated!

My only code was for a misfire in cylinder two so I replaced my spark plugs and it seems the problem got worse. It will not start at all now.

You said it yourself in your post... "My check engine light has been on for my cadylitic converter " Your catalytic converter I plugged. It will start momentarily but stall shortly because it cannot get the exhaust out of the engine.
