Why is my alarm going off at random?

Also, I have problems with some of the lights on my door not turning off and I cannot lock my doors electronically, but I have to lock each one manually.  These problems started at the same time that my alarm started going off for no reason.

It sounds like you have an electrical problem. You should check all the fuses to make sure that one hasn't blown and is messing up the electrical system. Also try detaching the cars battery so that all of the electrical components are reset.

My moms 99 beetle had the same problems. It was either the micro switch mounted on the inside of the door by the latch, or the Comfort Control Module, thats a little box that controls everything to do with the interior lighting and locking, and the alarm system and a couple of other things.
