How do I know if I need a transmission or to replace low transmission fluid in volkswagen jetta 2005 2.5?

When I put my car in drive (automatic) it doesn't move in any gear including 1,2,3..... I
have never changed the transmission fluid and I've had it since 2011. It had around 82,000
miles when bought and it now has 156,000.
