Is the Diesel TDi VW New Beetle more reliable than it's gasoline counterpart?

Is the TDi VW New Beetle more reliable than the gasoline VW New Beetle? I have heard that the New Beetle's aren't reliable.

I have not heard this about the new Beetles, would check out www.carsurvey.org for owner reviews on the car.

id say yes, simply because an untampered-with diesel can last 300+ thousand miles, where as its a good idea to get rid of a 1.8t around 85k, and the same with the 2.0. i dont know too much about the 2.5, but i do know that not very many people like them.
