Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just recently purchased a used 1999 Volkswagen beetle and it only came with one key. So I don't have the trunk keys. When I press the button to open the trunk, it opens half and it is still latched. sometimes it will open and other times, I need someone by the trunk to open it as I press the button :/ just wondering what the problem is? and an estimation cost of how much it will be to take care of this issue. The car is small enough, I need the trunk!

Your going to have to remove the panel and remove the lock from inside the car. Dunk the lock in a margrine container with some wd40 in it or oil and it should losen up over night. You can use a margrine container you washed out for this since you can lid it up easy.
