WHY DOES MY ALARM KEEP GOING OFF? VW BEETLE

Hello everyone, I am new to this so I hope I am doing this correctly. I'm 22 and have a 2003 1.6 beetle, sky blue. I love it, I have had it 2 years in July. Unfortunatley I've come across a problem which I have noticed it is common for the VW beetle to have.
Basically my car alarm keeps going off randomally, aswell as every time I unlock the car and get inside it. I turn the alarm off by my fob key (pressing the unlock button), this works everytime but it is becoming very fustrating hearing and knowing the alarm will go off as soon as I put my key in the door or do it by my fob. Does anyone know what could be causing this? Could I disable the alarm all together some how to prevent this from happening and not speing loads of money at a local garage?

This alarm concern is most commonly a result of a failing door latch. The door latches on VW models have a micro switch inside of them that tells the vehicle if the door is open or closed. Overtime the micro switch starts to break down, and rarely completely fails right away. The reason why the door latch failures causes the random alarm problem is due to the micro switch. When the micro switch on the door latch assembly begins to fail it will send the improper signal to the vehicle, causing the vehicle to believe the door has been opened.

Sounds like you will need to replace the micro switch. I would try that route first then if that doesn't solve it, let us know.
I had/have the same issue. If you remove the battery from the key fob it will stop

Mine started this today. Locking/unlocking doesn't affect it. The car does it's beeping alarm any time I am driving/rolling forward, but silences if I stop, and resumes when I go.

The key fob is not always the problem. I tried using a non-remote key, but the alarm kept triggering. At least that's one way to eliminate a possible cause.
