volkswagen beetle car alarm continously going off

Just recently bought privately a 2002 volkswagen beetle.

When test driving the car and talking with previous owner
for about an hour. The car alarm never went off. Maybe
because the doors were unlocked.

However, I brought the car home, parked and locked it. The
alarm goes off like every 20-30 mins.

I've taken the battery out of the keys.

Nothing.

I had to disconnect the battery from the car, because I
didn't want neighbors to complain. How do I fix or
completely disconnect the alarm system.

Try to open the Trunk with the Key, not the key fob or button inside the car. I drove around for 2 weeks with the lights blinking and the horn blowing before I ran across a random post about the trunk. It only lasted 30 seconds, but thats a very long 30 sec. I think there is a secondary horn, pointing into the car, plus the regular horn blowing at the same time. Maybe to startle the thief out of the car. Haha Hope this works for you.
