Passat tiptronic / sport mode help

Asked by Jacisred Feb 11, 2016 at 10:02 PM about the 2006 Volkswagen Passat 2.0T

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So I have a 2006 Passat 2.0 T and I was messing
around with the tiptronic feature and I can't get it to
work. I put it in nuetral, shift right and it brings up
numbers 1-6 on my dash. I shift up and it only goes
up to 2, it won't go past second gear. Also it feels
like it stays in nuetral, like I don't get anywhere in
this mode, when I accelerate the RPMS go up but I
don't actually move. Also I'm wondering how to
access sport mode. I try to shift down all the way
and it won't go past "drive" any help would be
great.

um fyi tip tronic is an electronic manual gear shifter. You have to be going over 1500-2000 rpms to shift beyond 2nd gear while in park...
