Have it read for codes, even if the check engine light is NOT on the computer will have stored information and codes. Discount auto stores will read codes for no fee. write them down.

I had a 1997 Passat sedan that I bought fast after a deer totaled my wagon. I had a tuneup done and new spark plug wires set. Car ran rough and stumbled when going up hills. I ended up replacing the ignition coil.....and ran great right away!
