Putting an audi a4 engine into passat

Asked by Soy Nov 10, 2018 at 04:00 AM about the 2006 Volkswagen Passat 2.0T

Question type: General

So i had a blown engine on a passat 2006 with
broken crank. But i found a cheap audi a4 2008
that crashed but good engine. Anyhow i was able
to swap engines with help of mechanic. Now that
everything is in place car cranks but does not have
any spark , anyhow would like help of anything that
i can do. Somebody told me if i also swap the
same ecu it would work but still with my doubts.
Anyhow hopefully somebody out there can help

could be the transponder in the ignition key , the ecu won't recognize the engine , what does your mechanic have to say ?

My mechanic doesnt know much about electrical. All we placed was original ecu from pasaat amd wiring into audi engine. They practically looked the same as passat it fit right through. What would you suggest to do about transponde?
