RE. previous question about throwing away all the computer stuff.
How do marine engines do it? They can't have all that junk a car does, or do
they?
It should be a sweet little motor without the tech stuff. jump in, no bad views.

Marine engines as well as aircraft engines are a different bags of cats, everything is different including torque curves, spark timing and fuel delivery needs. Remember, if it goes in a boat or aircraft increase the price of the part by 200%.

Boats come with GM motors, Ford motors, Volvo motors....they may have different camshafts and cooling systems but the base engine is the same. I took a 454 out of a boat and put it in a Chevelle and my current boat has a 4.3 Mercruiser which is a 4.3 GM

As far as computer controlled engines....I had a 91 mustang fuel injected 5.0. I eliminated the fuel injection and went old school and threw a carburetor on it

Good , good and good but how do I get rid of the computer? The cam cant be that different. Compression ratios are similar the computer monitors a lot of stuff, and these engines run pretty dam efficient compared to my 72 sbc. 10 MPG avg. What does a marine engine not have that I do hav in the blazer? Keep it coming folks. We can figure this out.

No emissions on boats. If you want to get rid of the computer controls then pull it all off, throw a carburetor and an HEI ignition in and be done

I see. That is great advice Dan, Right there on eby convert to hei and carb. Looking into this more. Looks reasonable too. Need a manifold I guess, many marine carbs, hei distiutors<$100. sound nice! Thanks

read up on this conversion. manifold not necessary, adapter plate is available. a ford 2bbl is recommended. see new Q re. transfer case wiring and start up. this is one very hearty chassis.
