98 camaro

Asked by Tiburo1010 Aug 18, 2019 at 03:30 PM about the 1998 Chevrolet Camaro Coupe RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 98 3.8l camaro runs and drives perfectly fine until it
reaches operating temperature. After it starts to misfire and
die. If I try to start it. It will start but will only drive maybe a
football field at a time till I let her cool off. My thoughts are
ignition coils any other ideas?

How long since a tune-up? Any applicable trouble codes? Does it restart quickly after it stalls? If not, that is the time to do testing, have helper crank it while you check for spark--proper fuel pressure and fuel injector pulse. If the engine is hot, wear gloves. I'd want to check if system running rich or lean when problem is ongoing. Check coolant temp sensor.
