Typically the fan switches on when the engine temperature reaches anywhere from 200 to 230 degrees.

Racer your link contradicts itself. The 4th paragraph says 195°-215° ...then on the bottom it does say 200°- 230°. Seems to me 230° is a bit late for the fan to come on. Wouldn't you agree?
Hmm? I didn't notice that at first @ FordNut. Not sure why it gives 2 different temp. ranges in the same article. Agreed that 230 degrees is a bit late for the fan to kick in! Guessing that 195-200 degrees makes more sense...Thoughts?
A cooling fan that won't come on until 230° is like the analogy of closing the barn door after the cow got out. It needs to PREVENT it from getting that hot. And @ heavychevy1 -- does you car have one or two fans? I did a search and found both set-ups for 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier Z24 Coupe. If you have two, one of them should come on whenever A/C is on ..and what engine do you have?
