My trunk of 2000 miata has water collecting in the left depression. I have a new soft top with new rail. Should it be leaking?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Soft top (cloth) new. Rain rail included. Job done two years ago.
Water is leaking into trunk. Mechanic says rail may not be working but he
installed it.
Help!

Typically there is a gutter under the top in the trunk with a drain. Make sure the gutter is not cracked and that the hose is hooked up. Use a garden hose to investigate.
