does anyone know if seats from an RX8 can be installed into 1990 RX7? wondering if it has been done before and if it requires a lot of work to power them up... (not looking to hook up the airbag)

Try and check the rx-7 club forums as they have a lot of howto's, tips and tricks. They include wiring up the RX-8 seats for use in the RX-7 (which is obviously the superior machine anyway): http://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-specific-1986-1992-17/how-wire-up-leather-powered-rx8-seats-992255/
Its been done before and has a few write ups on the net, oh and its a pain to do it. Against my advice one of my buddies bought another friends RX8 seats to drop into his FC... I got stuck doing the fab work and it was a nightmare. NONE of the mounting points line up. I ended up taking the carpet out of the FC and had to plan and fab up a whole new set of rails with a welder and torch. I didnt do the wiring so have no idea if it would be easy or hard to do...im not sure it ever got done so cant comment on that part. on the other hand they look gorgeous once they are in, and are quite a bit more comfortable. they do sit a bit higher though so if you're tall....check it out first before installing.
yea it can just change the rails
Its not quite that simple. even if you get some rails from a company like say...bride for example, there is still the issue of getting the RX8 seat on them, and they dont bolt up directly. on top of that since the seat has tall sliders and a decent amount of padding there will be a height issue as well.
