How much would a 2004 Mazda RX8 Grand Touring Package be worth if it isn't running?

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

The car is is pretty good shape other than it won't start.  Could be something simple or
could be major. I would like to know what I could ask for it not knowing what is wrong
with it.  It has small rust on both side rocker panels, window tint would need to be
replaced on drivers side and rear windows, plastic panel under front of car needs to be
replaced and the mice have destroyed the insulation material under the hood.
The car has lots of potential for  someone who knows what they are doing.  It has
aprox 98000.

Thank you Tom, I was offered 1500. and I thought it would be worth around 3000. to 4000.

With a rotary it's probably something major... like the engine and few want to have to mess with that. You might get some trade-in value for it though, unless you can find a rotor head that's willing to take a chance. I'd guess $3k would be the high end. Also, since you do state it's a 4-sp, is it an automatic? If so, that would limit your audience even more.

I have the same issue. 2004 rx8 6 spd manual. the main engine computer has failed. It was driving great and is in otherwise good condition. Mazda told me the new computer will be 2400! Ouch. Do you have any idea what it would be worth for parts in British Columbia, Canada? Thank you
