for a 2006 Audi A6  Quatro; what would the expected service life be for the front upper
control arm bushings in the suspension system
The car has only 45,000 miles, but the problem with the bushings is "age" related
according to the service technician.

Tom's answer above is accurate. If the car has see city or rough service, that takes its toll on bushings and other suspension components too.
