Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I got into an accident that caused frame damage in a 2000 audi a6 2.8. The
engine is good on it has maybe 80k miles on it. Can i swap just the engine into
a 2001 2.7t? i would still like the turbos to work.

wow- that's a lot of work- just to get an Audi running again? I don't see the attraction- just send it to salvage, they will recycle the engine-

I would say the same, it is way to much work UNLESS you only do an motor swap, as it should fit correctly, check the mounts, and if they are in the same position then you should be good. Also check the exhaust downpipes as the 2.7 is a dual exhaust and the 2.8 is a single exhaust, if I remember right, it wasn't until the 3.0 V6 that it has dual exhaust like the 2.7T. As for adding the turbo, ITS WAY TO MUCH WORK, I wanted to do the same on my 911, I thought how hard could it be to buy a pair of turbos from a 911 Turbo and put them on my 911 C4 but then I looked into it and you have to add intercooler (I believe the Audi 2.7 has them as well) and all the plumbing for it as well as wiring and adding gauges, it's just way to much trouble, plus you can find a 2001-2006 turbo for around 3-5k and it is going to cost you 1-3k (if you do most of the work yourself) most likely 2-5k if you have a shop do it. Hope that helps and good luck. check out TraderOnline.com for deals on great cars, just set the distance to "Any", if you really want it you will make the trip, I drove from Michigan to New York to pick up my 911 because I found one that came off a 2 year lease and it was $68k and the sticker was 103k, so I got a car with 34k miles but it had full Porsche warranty and was only 2 years old and I saved 35k, deals can be found, you have to look and it takes time, I spent 9 months looking for it. Anyway, I know not everyone has that luxury so maybe pick up a 800-1,500 beater car to drive while your looking and find the car you want.
