You have a leak it may be very small and dosent take much to create a smell, its a matter of time toll you find it or see it. Check to see if you have any white smoke coming out of your tail pipe...
My radiator return lines were original and had never been replaced. That took care of my similar issue.
If you have water coming inside on the floorboard the it’s you heater core liking and needs to be changed
Check your reservoir for cracks. I chased an antifreeze leak and smell for over 3 years, getting the run around from our local dealer, telling me that it was evaporating or being used up by my air conditioning. Finally, bought a pressure tester and found several cracks in the coolant reservoir. Replaced the reservoir and so far haven't had any more problems.
