Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I recently bought a 2006 Hyundai tiburon 2.7L v6 and
washed the engine but didnt cover the electrical portions of
the car. Pistons 1 and 3 were misfiring and so I changed
the spark plugs, wires, and the ignition coils. Started for 10
min and so I out away my tools but then all the sudden it
died. Now I have no idea what the issue could be. I tried
disconnecting the battery for 10 min, unplugged all
necessary sensors, checked the connections on the wires
and still nothing. Please help!

You should leave the battery disconnected and check all of your wiring harnesses with a multi meter then check all of your fuses but really that shouldn't happen. Another thing to check is if your air filter got soaked and restricted air flow and if that was the problem take it out and let it air dry and possibly replace it. And a question, did you get your alternator all wet then started it right after?

I had to wait a week for the ignition coils to come in but in the mean time I would drive it with the misfires very short distances. Air filter is was dry cause I took it off. Alternator did get wet. But it had still started before I changed the ignition coils. It was only until then when it didnt start...

Most off the stuff in the engine compartment will get wet while driving in rain. Alternators will take a pretty good amount of water and not have issues. My guess is that you got the ignition coils or associated wiring wet and that is causing the issue. Sometimes when coils get wet they short out. Double check your work regarding the coils, you may have left a loose connection or disturbed another connection.

To Bob, yeah that's what I thought but everything is brand new regarding the ignition coils to the spark plugs. I've unplugged them to make sure nothing was bent or out of shape. So confused. I'm thinking maybe the crank sensor or something with the fuel ratio type sensor?
