Is your coolant going down in the reservoir? A bad head gasket will suck in coolant and white smoke goes out the tail pipe. It also introduces air into the cooling system and the engine will over heat. Sometimes water will show up in the oil and bubble will rise in the reservoir. -- If the motor spins, do a compression test. That will tell you for sure if there is a bad head gasket. -- When the engine quit, did it just shut off like the electricity turned off or did it sputter to a stop like the fuel pump failed?
