CD player is not working (it does not take the cd in)

Hi i just purchased a used volvo s40 in saudi arabia as the battery was dead i changed to new AC delco battery and then the CD player is not working (it does not take the cd in) and the power button gets off CD player gets of within few seconds please help me solve this issue

theres probably jammed cd in player, and that player doesnot reconize it because, battery went dead when it was in. This has happened in old 850 at least.

Is it asking you to put in a code? Volvos have a safety feature [more inconvenient than anything else really] that when power is interrupted in the vehicle the car shuts and locks the radio. If it says off you need to turn the key over to engage the power but not turn the engine over, and leave it lio3 that for 2 hours. Then it should say enter code. If you don't know the radio code call a volvo dealership and give them your VIN and they can look it up for you.
