what else could be causing a misfire??

Asked by dana Feb 17, 2018 at 12:28 PM about the 2004 Volvo S60 2.4

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I've been getting a misfire so i changed the plugs with autolite platinum and
plugs set  to .028" gap. i still got a misfire in cylinder 2 and 3. I've tried to
swapping coil packs to see if the misfire would follow the coil but it didn't. So
i changed, without checking if its electrical , fuel injectors on both cylinders.
now I'm getting a misfire in the same cylinders. I will clear the code with
scanner and the misfires shows in either cylinder. clear it and it shows up in
#2. clear it again then in #3. idling very rough.
I'm baffled to what it could be at this point.

028 doesn't sound quit right to me for the plug gap , I'd double check your information on the gap setting specs

MaineJimbo I did go ahead and replace all 5 spark plugs and all 5 ignition coils and since then I haven't had any misfires. I've been meaning to flush out my fuel injectors but since I havent had a misfire since replacing my plugs and coils I havent found the motivation to that yet. Hope this helps!
