How do I get my transmission in neutral so my wheels turn freely but my engine won't start?

Asked by one4surf Jun 27, 2015 at 01:30 PM about the 2005 Volvo S60 2.5T Turbo AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2005 s60 AWD doesn't roll freely and I need to get the car rolling to move it. Is there a
wire I can disconnect next to the transmission that will disengage it from drive and pit it
into neutral? I need help asap..

Thanks to Whomever

the car was in drive, driving along at around 20 miles an hour and rear ended a car... of course after the accident the motor died and was still engaged in drive. Now, the car has been sitting in front of my house and was told to move it or it would be impounded. I'm told by my volvo mechanic, that if I have power, electrical, that I should be able to depress brake pedal and put the car in neutral or park which I was not able to do?.... Appreciate your input
