Anti Lock Brake Warning Light

Asked by Upisdown Jul 17, 2022 at 08:51 AM about the 1997 Chevrolet Blazer 4-Door 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

From time to time my Anti-Lock warning light comes on. I took it in to check

the brakes and they said they were fine. My problem is the light didn’t go on

when I was at the service station so they couldn’t diagnose anything.

Something strange happens when light goes on and stays on: power windows

don’t work//compass&Temp gauge doesn’t work//blower fan doesn’t work.

When light goes off all these things work again. How is the warning light

connected to these other things?

Sounds like a bad ground. The problem with the ABS light is you can only get the trouble code when the light is on. When the light is on, drive to your repair shop and don't shut off the engine, leave it running so they can get the trouble code from the ABS computer. Also, be a detective. Does it happen when you hit a bump? When the inside of the vehicle is hot or cold? When you turn the steering wheel in one direction or the other? On sharp turns? Figure out if there's a pattern, there usually is. Hope that helps! Jim
