It turns over, the engine is getting power but wont
start. It Will start sometime but not all the time. If
you try to start it and let go of it before it starts it
wull not start for hours

The reason could be many but the only reason I am say to think about replacing this is because of the will not crank for hours, and that is the distributor Pick up coil (1st in my mind) or (2nd in my mind) ignition control module (ICM) because your issue sounds like a electrical issue. Or could be fuel pump related. I personally would test for fuel and spark and see which you do not have after replicating the not starting issue for hours so you know its lost one or the other and go from there, the pick up is cheap and worth replacing as opposed to testing everything else first and then replacing it to test, just replace it if your missing fire right of the bat.
