you have to drop it out from the subframe ,change the springs , wire harness, computer & exhaust system ,you might have to change or beef up the tranny and drive shaft & the rear end if you want it to last.
Existing tranny has to go. Not compatible. I understand a carb engine will not fit under firewall so your looking for lt or ls1 or 3 also k member under engine has to be swapped ou.... Im taking for granted you have the 3.8 v6. I have been told its not a cheap or easy swap. But i plan to do it or buy another body with v8 bones.
no i don't have a 3.8 v6 , but i've done enough engine swaps to know whats involved. It would be cheaper and easier to buy a V8 camaro & go from there. A carb engine would fit ,the carb doesn't go that far under the cowl ,although you might not be able to close the hood. if you get a V8 car you won't have to worry about that because you can keep the stock fuel injection system.

I have a 97 Camaro RS 3.8 6-cylinder....the body is in excellent shape....engine needs work......will sell at a reasonable price.
