How big of a turbo can I get

I have a 2003 Buick Regal LS wich ahs a 3.8L in it, and I want to know how
big of a turbo can this engine hold before it becomes dangerous, and can I
get a dual turbo?

There is science and mumbo jumbo involved.....if you do any reading about car tests one of the early problems/complaints of turbos was LAG...so the smaller turbo responds faster, you can probably be over turboed if you put a turbo intended for a 500ci engine on your 3800 engine. Do some research on the GN Buicks and learn from them, they were the fastest production American car on the road in 1987 and they must have something going for them
If you use a turbo that is too big you will end up with major turbo lag. If you go over 4 pounds of boost on a stock engine it will blow up. For big boost you will need forged pistons, an intercooler and a ton of other heavy duty parts to keep it alive. If you have $20 k or more to spend you could get a lot of hp out of that engine.
