the only ? i have is wether the 86 lesabre grand national is fwd or rwd?I have an 87 t-type n/a 3.8
the reason i ask is that i need to find headers for my car and am having no luck i also want a turbo for my car but its the vin 3 or c engine so mechanical cam roller lifters and want more power than my upgrades are allowing bascially 125 hp nos.i have an imposter gn but its a little faster than the big gns.need lots of otherinfo thanks.being front wheel dr theres no one able to help.

Yes, unfortunately you are stuck with what you've got there. No real way to polish this car to make it faster. Being as old as it is and with the engine it has there has been little aftermarket demand to make parts for it.
The Lesabre is a FWD car. As previously mentioned, very few performance parts for that car. Although I consider the Lesabre GN to be a very rare car, unfortunately, it's not worth much $. However, within the Buick community, you get a few brownie points for having this rare vehicle. You *CAN* improve on it's performance, but if you want to have the fastest car on the street, you will be best off to keep your Lesabre as orginal as possible, and focus on the Grand National/T-Type choices. As for the 1987 t-type n/a 3.8 that you mention, technically, there is no such thing. If you type "n/a" to mean "normally aspirated" then it sounds like you have a Regal with the "T" package - which includes the alloy wheels and black-out trim (I think). The T-Type option was discontinued at the end of 1986. their were 4400 LeSabre t-types sold in 87 and just slightly more the next 2 years untill 1990 then the t-type badge was retired.All the t-types of those years were n/a but still t-types.

The last RWD LeSabre was made in 1985.
The '86 LeSabre GN was a special model built for the southern Buick dealers...most records show only 102 made. One place to start on exhaust improvements on 3.8 front wheel drive engines is the firewall side exhaust manifold. Where the exit pipe comes off the manifold it looks like they used a can opener to make the hole. cleaning up that area is a start. If you have a talent with stainless welding you could further improve that area with a little fabrication and welding I am attaching a photo showing the rough hole.
