2001 Buick Regal shut itself off

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

No dash, interior, or any lights would come on. The engine would turn over and
now after I let it sit for a moment and now it doesn't turn over and only a lone
"Check Engine" light comes on. It's the left hand Check Engine light as the car
seems to have 2 of them. Additional information is that the outside temperature
was over 100 degree heat index.

With the check engine light on, have it hooked up with an OBD and see what the engine codes are.

I don't have an OBD and I don't know where to obtain one honestly. As an Update I disconnected the battery since nothing worked I felt that was a safe option. When I did so clicking and ticking was heard coming from my ECU location. Every time the battery sparked it would make clicking sounds. I can't even put the bolt back in because it sparks so much.
