Can anyone help with an RPM question

Asked by stormy1994 Mar 04, 2016 at 01:00 AM about the 2007 Pontiac G5 GT

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have noticed over the past year or so that my rpm's in my car will go from
1000 up to 2500 while in idle. It began in the winter, so i assumed it was
because of a cold start. Id let my coolant warm to about 20 degrees Celsius
and it would do a temporary fix. It has been doing it more and more
frequently and my car is beginning to stall a lot. I had taken it in to the
mechanics and they changed my spark plugs because thats the only thing
they could think of to be causing this issue. I am not car smart in any way,
and am hoping for advice on how to resolve this issue before i completely
ruin my car.
