engine cranking but dose not start some times

engine dose not start up some times and i did not hear the noise of the fuel pump in this time.
but when i hear the noise of the fuel pump with ignition on the engine will start.
in another words ; when i hear the noise of fuel pump the engine start, but when did not hear the noise of the fuel pump the engine dose not start.

I would test for power and ground at pump when it will not start along with fuel pressure. If you have no pressure and have power and ground. I would say that you need a fuel pump
when that is happen and ignition switch is off and on again i check the fuel pump fuse and zero volt is there.
If you can get a friend. Have him crank the engine over while you are testing for power. When you turn the key to run without cranking the fuel pump with only get power for a couple of seconds
No power at the fuel pump when i turn the key to run without cranking. when i hear the noise of fuel pump (power is there)and the engine will start, but when i did not hear the noise of the fuel pump (power is not there) the engine dose not start.
I put a new fuel pump in my Audi A6 05 and it still cranks but won’t stay up
