97 Suburban - No power

Asked by hamrdown Sep 22, 2014 at 12:20 PM about the 1997 Chevrolet Suburban K1500 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 97 suburban will not start as of Friday.  I turned over the key and I have nothing, no power, clicking, nothing.  I tried to jump it and still nothing.  When I turned over the key, nothing happened.  I put a charger on it and waited about 5 minutes and it started right up (which was very surprising).  It ran the rest of the day Saturday and Sunday.  When I got in this morning, nothing.  It is dead and will not take a jump.  Any ideas?

I would check main battery cables for ground, then check power cable trace. (You probably already did that). Fueses would be next cabin as well as your underhood fueses, tap the relays as well. Then with the key in the run position and door open move your cables and wires as you work your way from batt around the motor to your ignition switch. Something should make connection to that door bell. Should help narrow it down.
