96 buick regal, 4dr custom, 59,000 miles. I just replaced the starter. car has been sitting for a few months, car will turn over, but will not start. back fired through the throttle a couple of times, but will not start. Tried starter fluid, turned over faster but would not start. ant help would be appreciated.

I was able to get the car started. I cleaned and regapped the plugs. I also turned the engine over a few rotations with the plugs out. Unfortunately, water went into the engine oil. So it probably had a blown head gasket or Upper intake manifold gasket. I hated too but I sold it to pick a part. It was such a clean looking car wit only 59k miles. I just did not have the time or extra money to find out what was the actual problem.
