01 GMC Savana fuel pump won't run

Asked by Dave Feb 05, 2023 at 03:21 PM about the 2001 GMC Savana 1500 Passenger Van

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I recently purchased a 01 GMC Savana 1500 with a 5.0.
Shortly after purchase it started cranking but wouldn't fire.
The issue is intermittent.  The fuel pump and fuel filter were
both replaced. When the vehicle won't start the fuel pump
also doesn't run. The relay was taken out and tested at a
local shop and showed good. Old relay was reinstalled and
vehicle decided it would start...for now. Any suggestions?

You are supposed to replace the relay every time you do the fuel pump right alone with the fuel filter. So replace the fuel pump relay.

I just remembered something from back in those years, check the fuel pump connector, there was a problem with them burning out, it was hard to see.
