1996 Chevy Blazer won't turn over

Asked by WilliamTHolly Mar 23, 2020 at 04:51 PM about the 1996 Chevrolet Blazer LT 4-Door RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Just replaced the starter, battery cables, and battery.
Could be any number of things, but it won't start. Bought it
for $700 so I know it has a lot of problems, but when I turn
the key it sounds like it's trying but it won't turn over.
Please give suggestions or help

The engine could be hydrostaticly locked. Remove the spark plugs and see if it'll crank. If so look for coolant spurting from one or more of the spark plug holes. If you see that, you have a blown head gasket and coolant, which cannot be compressed, is leaking into the cylinders. Has the vehicle been sitting for a while? If so and it still won't crank with the spark plugs removed the engine probably will need a rebuild! Hope that helps! Jim
