Please help me to better understand your problem. Are you indicating the shifter will not move into the park position or after leaving part the shifter will not down shift into neutral and into drive?
I suggest removing the panel/console and see if by chance an object maybe restricting movement of the shifter. And or look beneath the vehicle to see if anything is causing the problem.
