transmition no shifting in any gear speedo pinned out not working

2001 gmc silverado 1500 4x4 i was driving about 15 kph then it was like it went
into neutral speedo is at full 180 pinned out not working sometimes when i reset
with key or leave it sit it will briefly engage in gear but very briefly drivng me
nutz and gonna cost me my job soon if not fixed

What codes do you have? This sounds like a VSS error so bad that the computer doesn’t know what to do with shifting cause speed is over limits. Live data testing would give you the whole scoop but you will need to get it to a shop that can do it unless you have a mobile mechanic that has the proper equipment.
sounds feezable bob, getting sick of hearing its the speed sensor but im heading out to change it even tho i dont think its problem so i can cross it off puzzle at least. so what does ur theory entale to correct the problem bob? i have a torque converter out of a blown 2wd 4l60e or is this one ok? need new pump? lol IDK. The simple ineffective fixes are runnin out it seems time to bite bullet and dropn tranny? im ok with that at this point. any advice super apreciated. thx!!!
