Truck will not shift into any gear

Asked by ffejy Sep 23, 2012 at 01:39 PM about the 1995 GMC Sierra 1500 C1500 SLE Extended Cab SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1995 gmc sierra. Truck runs great and never had a problem. I drove to work stopped put it in park, when I
returned i shifted into reverse there was nothing, I cycled thru all gears and nothing. I had a co-worker shift it while I
looked underneath to see if linkage was working and it is fine.  What might be the cause and what should I do to fix
it

There is a linkage that runs next to the steering column by the firewall. Check to see if the nut came loose.
