why will the transmission not shift into high gears

automatic transmission will not shift into third or forth gear, run fine first, second and reverse.

Do you have a service light on? How is the Fluid condition? Is it burnt or have any metal filings in it?

Dash light on, fluid ok, no smell, fluid registers on dip stock slightly above hash marks cold. Thanks

Hi got 02gmc Sierra 1500 4X4 reg cab 4.8 I changed transmission and it go into drive? If you can help me call me 607-684-4175 . I wish people would do over haul on my truck make my life easier lol sucks sitten home .grrr Richard peace.I. hard working man I have hitch ride or take bus sucks donkey balls lol

I have the same problem with my 99 Silverado 1500 4.3. no light code about the transmission the fluid level is good and not terrible condition. No smells or nothing. I was thinking solenoid or maybe clutch packs. Idk I'm just a home garage mechanic
