Rough idle

Asked by Casey Jul 02, 2018 at 12:14 AM about the 2006 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT Extended Cab 6.5 ft. RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi I have a 2006 GMC Sierra 5.3 170k and recently
about the past 1000 miles my idle has been getting
worse but today I noticed when I put the ac on it
seems to smooth out again any thoughts?

If you haven't cleaned the throttle body lately with throttle body/injector spray, start there. Otherwise, your throttle body may be faulty, or the throttle position sensor. Even if there's no check engine light, run a scan on it to see if there are any codes.
