97 chevy tahoe Truck goes into gear but wont move

I have a 97 chevy tahoe I was on
the freeway and it started making a
whining sound. I made a stop got
back in the truck and drove it
across the street to mcdonalds
drive thru needless to say I got
stuck in mcdonalds drive thru
because my truck wouldnt move.. I
put it into gear and it just revs the
engine up.  But wont move. I can
put it into neutral and it can be
pushed it will go into park just wen
I put it in drive it wont do nothing
but rev up engine.. im a single
mother wit limited income.. please
help

Sounds like the transmission is done. Check the trany fluid level first to make sure it is full. You would need to get it towed to a trany shop for diagnosis, but sounds like it will need to be rebuilt.

Sounds like 1st gear is gone. You can have it rebuilt but personally I'd take a different heaped route of replacing it with a used transmission. A 4l60e or 700r4 transmission is very easy to come by.
