replacing rear lights with newer 2004 stock chevy lights

Asked by baggins144 Jan 28, 2010 at 10:40 PM about the 1996 Chevrolet Tahoe LT 4-Door 4WD

Question type: Car Customization

I would like to up grade my rear lights to the newer style found on trucks and tahoes with the rounder lense look. My stock lights keep needing polishing as then tend to film over.  I havn't been able to find any cross references as to if this application would work.  I don't want after market stuff.

any thoughts
Dan

I don't think that the 04 lights will fit. The 96 is on the GMT400 chassis, where the 04 is on a GMT800 chassis (translation- the bodies are shaped different) They may be the right dimensions to fit, but I believe the 04 is more rounded than the 96 so they may not be a perfect fit and will look odd. Don't trust me though... go to a dealership parts department, they should be able to tell for sure before you buy the lenses.
