Ingntion problem

My car will only run if i hold the key forward a little past the on position , as soon as i let off the key it will shut off, i
dont know why?

It sounds like the ignition switch is worn out. You could try removing it and cleaning the contacts if you can get to them.

Yep sounds like ignition switch. Go buy a new one GM used the same switch for years.
