I have a 2003 Sorento that I am doing the same thing to. I think they are basically the same. Do you see a metal sleeve that is tack welded to the steering column, where the screw with the sheered off head is? You have to get a pair of needle nose vice grips, and grab the shaft of that screw and slowly, inch by inch, loosen that screw. Once that is out, there should be a pin on the top of that metal tacked on sleeve, that you can push down and pull out the ignition. I'm stuck right now on having enough clearance to get the ignition out. I just found out that I have to take the top two steering column bolts out so I can slide the column to the left and then I should have clearance. So just turn the key "on", then get your fingers on top of that sleeve, close to the column and you should feel a pin that you can push down. Hope that helps
