Tranny Filter?

Asked by adjohnson_2011 Nov 05, 2011 at 09:38 PM about the 2006 Kia Spectra EX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Is there a transmission filter under the pan like most vehicles? I can't seem to find a filter kit that is compatible with my set-up. My transmission pan has 19 bolts.

if this transmission is a side pan(on the side of the transmission instead of th bottom) yes it has a filter.....but you dont need to change it. changing this filter involves removed the trans and seperating the case. is it usuallya non servicable item except for rebuilds. i wouldnt worry about it unless of course your having transmission problems

You might have to go to the dealership to obtain a filter kit. Take your registration in with you, depending if the 8th digit is a 1 or a 2 there are 2 different filter types. One long neck and one short neck.
