why won't my driver side window go up?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have a 2002 Saturn L200 my driver side window goes down when I push
the button down. I lift the button it won't come back up. I had to take the
inside panel out and push the window up while pulling the window switch up
with my finger. I didn't hear the window motor make any sound. when I
pushed the button down to let the window back down I heard the motor
click, but not up! Should I get a new window motor and regulator as a
precaution and replace both?

You need to check the switch, if switch is bad, replacing window motor and regulator will not help. It's most likely the switch or the motor
ok but the switch works to let the window down and the motor clicks but no sound or window movement when I pull the switch up. You still think it's the switch?
The switch has 2 separate sets of contacts, up/dn
Thanks I Just Checked out the switch and it is sticking when i put it in the up position. So I just ordered a switch and i'm going to switch it out as soon as it comes in. Thanks for your help!
The switch has two sets of rocker, spring loaded, pin contacts and one of the pin heads has probably broken. Had the same problem and after two wrong used part tries, I started taking it apart up to the switch rocker pieces. I was able to move the pin rocker heads from the rear window switch that I hardly ever used to the driver window switch and put it back together and it has worked fine ever since. If you get to that point, be careful taking last piece off as there are a number of small metal pieces that the rocker pins move against and they are loose. To allow the moved broken pin that now shows a small spring, I cut a small piece of wire off a large paperclip and put inside the spring to stiffen it. Since I don't use the rear window very much, it does work when I do though. Posted By PEN_IL.
